Ziqiao Wang (汪子乔)
About MeI am an Associate Professor (with tenure)
in the School of Computer Science and Technology at Tongji University.
I am also affiliated with
Shanghai Network Information Service Engineering Technology Research Center. In addition, I hold a Young Centurion Program (Position A) appointment at Tongji. In May 2024, I completed my PhD at the University of Ottawa, where I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. Yongyi Mao.
During Summer and Fall 2019, I was a research intern at National Research Council Canada (NRC). Research InterestsI am broadly interested in the theoretical foundations of machine learning, with a particular focus on statistical learning theory and information theory. My primary research area is generalization theory, including both in-distribution and out-of-distribution settings (e.g., domain adaptation), where I often apply information-theoretic analysis tools. More recently, I have also been exploring safety and trustworthiness in LLMs, including topics such as LLM hallucination, memorization, reasoning, alignment and watermarking. Open PositionsI’m actively seeking highly self-motivated PhD and master's students with a solid foundation in mathematics or empirical deep learning skills to join my group. If you are interested in working with me, please do not hesitate to contact me to inquire about available positions. New from 2026: I also hold a cross-appointment at the School of Economics and Management (SEM). If you are admitted to Tongji’s Master of Finance program, interested in AI4Finance, and looking for a master’s thesis advisor, feel free to contact me. Due to the large volume of emails I receive, there may be delays in my response, and I may not be able to reply to every individual request. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
